BIRD’S EYE
concretized
the bird awakens
burrowed in the slush
that melts into the salt
poured from the fallen
sigh of the soil.
immutable
she will widen her
wings where this
I
cannot reach
into the lightest
blue of first
dawn-waking
beyond the close-minded
beyond the far-fetched
high
above the towering
i
it cries
will know you.
cradled in the
elder tree
the one whose
bark has witnessed
the before
whose leaves
have shed
the after
there in this
space
the eye begins
a lingering rustle axels
over the branch
beholden to her
the feather-spoked iris
weaves with certitude
the betrothal
of the unlikely
and the dreamer.
