QUESTIONS FOR TREES

what does it mean                to cross               a tree’s shadow 
    will it die                          the tree                  the shadow 
    will i die                        shadowless                  treeless

what is it like to grow    from the ground        up into the air 
    why do we break                 dawn                  what about 
             dawn                deserves breaking          and why 

on the white branch        of the birch tree             a crow
