Alicia Elkort

Transparencies

Then it was a dream
a different angle

a wilding song
at the hour of twilight

a time for magic
for reckoning

the way a skin
slides down an apple

the way my gods
follow a word

I am at a crossroads—
to choose my anatomy

or let my alphabet
repeat the same words

here in the dark
of starlight

I want to be chosen
to know I belong

to let the stones
engrave me

with their love
of harmonies

a holy communion
of centuries

we are alone
and together

the me and the other me
the lightness

of transparency—
the trees hold snow

the way I hold love
a decoration of moons.
