Consider that Failure is a Synonym for ___________

Consider the beginning
Consider our rapture

Consider my blood
all this unraveling—

Consider the lightness    the enduring halo
of that window-wrecked sparrow

Consider our communal emptiness
Consider the silence of her infant tomb
language, brookbabbled laughter silenced by _______________
how hoarfrost still blackens the sage

Consider that grief is the price of tenderness
Consider pea shoots that twine yet never quite bloom

Consider how we’ve lost
our ability to speak
in full sentences
