Wake

A wake, filled with roil and sparkle,
imagined its straight lines were
aiming the boat whose stern
it shaped towards a thing called future.
It forgot it was made of ocean
and chased the craft until the stillness
came and the remembrance of how
alive it felt – more beautiful than
the vessel it could not contain.
