Alan Oliver

ARTIST BIO

Allan Oliver started his art and design career in Latin America – Puerto Rico, Chile and Peru. Returning to the US, he formed a graphic design and public relations agency in Portland, Oregon, specializing in promotional materials for a wide range of cultural and social organizations. He later returned to Latin America as the graphic design manager for Ogilvy & Mather advertising agency in Caracas, Venezuela.

Back in Portland, he discovered artistic applications of computer imaging and developed them into a line of handmade home décor items. He marketed the designs at his gallery, Onda, on Alberta Street in Portland, and later expanded the scope to a full blown fine art gallery, exhibiting primarily Latino artists. After retiring, he chaired the Arts Commission at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland.

His artwork explores acrylic liquid art, and his paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows at the CAVE gallery, Hilton Convention Center, Niche Wine Bar, and Society of Washington Artists venues in Vancouver, Washington, as well as the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Kempton Hall Gallery, Arrowood Gallery and Oregon Society of Artists shows in Portland. His paintings are in private collections throughout the US and have received prizes in juried shows.
